I’m New Here

Welcome to Sifter of Dust! This website is a Pennsylvania-based Baha’i website created by individuals who want to help others in the exploration of the teachings of Baha’u’llah- the revelation of God to all humanity for our time in history. If you have never heard of Baha’u’llah or the Baha’i Faith- you are in for a treat!  The message of this faith is so remarkable, so beautiful, so earth-shatteringly important that you will undoubtedly ask yourself- “why haven’t I heard about this before?”.

Sifter of Dust is created by people who also once heard about it for the first time but have since had a chance to study it and now want to share our perspectives on some of the treasures that we have found.  A Revelation of God belongs to all humanity- it is a gift for everyone. We are just trying to help people unwrap that gift and apply it to their lives.

In our approach, we strive to be fair-minded and honest in our sharing of insights that have helped us in understanding the Baha’i teachings.  On the site, you will find introductory essays and other posts designed to help illuminate various aspects of Baha’u’llah’s teachings. We try as much as possible to use the Baha’i Writings themselves because that is the source of all our inspiration.  You will also find videos and audio podcasts. We have collaborated with the “Modern Perspectives” YouTube channel series to offer weekly presentations on the Baha’i Faith. Some of them are introductory, others go quite deep, but all are interesting. The “Tea House” is intended to be introductory and is more of a discussion format.  These are then posted on YouTube and presented as audio podcasts.

In all we do, our intention is not to promote ourselves, but to raise the awareness in the broader public of the astonishingly beautiful and important message of our Faith, and make it as easy as possible for people of all backgrounds to explore and derive inspiration from it on a daily basis.

This site is not an “official” Baha’i website but is the product of individual Baha’is reflecting on their faith.  Much of the initial blog posts and introductory content is authored by Dr Kendal Williams, an academic physician in the Philadelphia area and a Baha’i. He is the author if not otherwise noted. Others contribute both formally and informally with content that is further specified.

We encourage you to also visit the official Baha’i website for the US national Baha’i community- bahai.us– and the website for the world-wide Baha’i community- bahai.org. Both have wonderful information. If you would like to contact Baha’is in your local area, please visit the contact Baha’is page. Finally, we have pulled together some introductory resources to help you explore the Baha’i Faith, both through books and multi-media. We invite to explore that on our introductory resources page.  Thanks for visiting!
